Book Blast: Seeking Her by Cora Carmack plus a Giveaway

17873497
A few months after being honorably discharged from the military, Jackson Hunt is still struggling to adjust back to the real world. He needs to get a job and find a sense of normalcy if he’s going to keep his own demons at bay. The job that falls into his lap, though, is anything but normal.

Bodyguard (and baby-sitter) to spoiled-rich-girl Kelsey Summers isn’t exactly what he’d been looking for, but it’s a chance to travel, to get away from the home that has felt stifling ever since his return. It would be a pretty sweet gig if it weren’t for the fact that Kelsey’s father doesn’t want Kelsey to know she’s being followed. Hunt feels guilty (and a little bit creepy) as he watches her from afar. She’s vibrant and infuriating, exciting and reckless, mysterious and familiar. When he sees her falling into the same patterns that he suffered years ago, he decides it’s time to stop watching and help her instead. But getting to know her is more difficult than he thought, especially because the more he knows her, the more he wants her.

THE EXCERPT
I was going to have to find some way to cope with this. If not, I was better off calling Mr. Summers and suggesting he find someone else to take over his daughter-watch.

I felt a pang of something at that thought. It was a general kind of discomfort, and I wasn’t sure whether it was the thought of returning home or something else that made that thought so unappealing.

After the cooling walk earlier, and now standing under the cool, calming rush of water, it was easier to think that I could control myself, but I knew better. It always seemed easier in my head than it really was.

I wiped the water from my eyes, and tried to think of some other way to deal. There was always the hope that Kelsey would get bored. That she would mellow out. If she only partied a couple nights a week, I should be able to resist. But that seemed unlikely.

All that restless energy; the way she’d soaked up the attention from the people around her. I couldn’t see her giving that up. And it was working for her. She was still in the phase where partying made her feel good. That was the one thing that helped me stay clean. The few times I’d slipped up since I started the program had left me miserable and angry, and even more frustrated than when I started. I’d found new ways to chase the high. And maybe that wasn’t any healthier, not when one way involved being in the midst of flying bullets.

It wasn’t the same kind of rush, but it did the trick. I pictured Kelsey again, laughing with her head thrown back, her shirt falling off her shoulder and displaying the gentle curve of her neck. It reminded me of the way she’d tossed her head back that first day out in the woods.

The memory of that caused a different kind of rush in me, and I groaned, pressing my forehead into the tile. Before I could help myself, I pictured her long legs straddling that guy in the gardens. The bright green material of her bra, and the way it conformed to her perfect chest. She leaned back, her fingertips trailing from the bark of the tree to his shoulders.

In an instant, the memory shifted into fantasy, and those were my shoulders she clung to, not his.

That was my undoing. There was only so much resisting I could do in one night.

Blog Tour: Wait For You by J. Lynn

WAIT FOR YOU

NOTE: This book is NOT YA. It is considered "New Adult" and is appropriate for readers over the age of 18.

From Goodreads:

Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

We sisters pledged our love and allegiance to JLA long ago. She is the master of writing swoon-worthy boys, and she's done it again with Cam in WAIT FOR YOU.

I think I like other romances and couples, and then I read a JLA-romance, and am like "Holy Crazypants Batman! What was I thinking? THIS is a romance!" WAIT FOR YOU made me flail and giggle like a schoolgirl in love.

And let's be honest.... I don't even flail and giggle over romance in real life... only for swoon-worthy fictional guys like Cam. :)The romance in this book is realistic. It moves at a believable pace, and will draw you in completely.

But this book has depth beyond the romance. First, there are the secondary characters. Avery's friends are hilarious and likable. They remind me of my own friends, which went a long way to helping me connect to Avery and her world. They also made the overall collegiate feeling very genuine.

And lastly, there is Avery. Her story is so tragic, and I applaud JLA for not shying away from difficult issues in this book. While this book does follow a rather cliche New Adult structure about a heroine with a broken past who needs to be "healed" through love, it feels fresh because JLA makes some bold choices, including a really interesting twist.

If you are a fan of New Adult books and want something with both angst and humor, you should definitely give this a shot! It hit both the New York Times and USA Today Bestseller Lists on its first week! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Buy it at Amazon.

And because we're part of the blog tour, we have an extra special giveaway for you! Sexypants Cam has an awesome pet in this book, and we've got a bracelet to giveaway in its honor. :)

The Sisters Say:  Seductive and Elusive

A girl who believes trust can be misplaced, promises are made to be broken, and loyalty is an illusion. A boy who believes truth is relative, lies can mask unbearable pain, and guilt is eternal. Will what they find in each other validate their conclusions, or disprove them all?

When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup two months into sophomore year. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she's single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, and failing a class for the first time in her life.

Leaving a party alone, Jacqueline is assaulted by her ex's frat brother. Rescued by a stranger who seems to be in the right place at the right time, she wants nothing more than to forget the attack and that night--but her savior, Lucas, sits on the back row of her econ class, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. Her friends nominate him to be the perfect rebound.

When her attacker turns stalker, Jacqueline has a choice: crumple in defeat or learn to fight back. Lucas remains protective, but he's hiding secrets of his own. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.

I had never read any of Tammara's books before, but I had been eyeing this one and waiting for the release date since I stumbled upon it. I actually had it on my Kindle for a few days before reading it, and after reading it, all I can say is, "Why in the heck did I not read this sooner?" It was fantastic, and I know it is one of those books that I will read over and over again!

Easy reminded me of Beautiful Disaster--just the right amount of romance blended seamlessly with the right amount of action. There were only a few times (maybe 2) where I thought it dragged, but then it picked right back up and I was hooked again!

I loved Tammara's characters. She brought life to the--even the smaller roles. I really loved Erin, Jacqueline's roommate. She was passionate, opinionated, and was one of those girls that knows what they want. She was funny and I really enjoyed watching her take Jacqueline under her wing and help her through her situation. I imagine her as the perfect college roommate--fun and social, but totally willing to help you kick a guy's ass--if need be.

The story centers around Jacqueline, who in a few short weeks, experiences a heart-wrenching break-up, an attempted sexual assault, and a possible class failure. She's real in every aspect--from her emotions to her actions. But, I really liked that she wasn't whiney. She took charge or her situations and tried not to let them ruin her life. Even though I have never been in any situation remotely similar, I still felt like I related to her.

And then there's the hottie--Lucas. He's the yummy bad boy that rides a motorcycle, has tatooes and body piercings, and can reduce a man to rubble in a fight. You'd think he's the type you wouldn't want to bring home to mommy, but that's not true. In fact, everything on the outside rivals what's on the inside. He's full of pleasant surprises, and trust me, you will totally fall for him!

This is definitely for mature readers, as the first chapter starts with an attempted sexual assault. But for those who can handle the adult situations, this is a great, MUST READ book.

I will admit, I've already re-read my favorite parts!

Tammara interweaves a chilling plot line with brilliant and swoon-worthy romance, and I just couldn't get enough!

Sister's Say: Laugh Out Loud Wonderful

**Warning: this is not a YA book. It is a New Adult Book and is intended for readers 18 and older.**
For a quick definition of the New Adult genre, I would say simply that it's books about that transition period between being a teenager and beoming an adult.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Losing It
Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that there has been such an insurgence of books in this New Adult genre.  Let me just say first off, that I love New Adult books.  I love that the characters are older and more matrue, facing real life stuggles. Plus, you don't feel like such quite a perve if you think the guy is dreamy because, guess what?!?!? he's not sixteen!!!!  Also, these books tend to be stand alones which means, no tortuous cliffhanger ending, no waiting years between books, and you get your happily ever after sooner rather than later!

With all that being said, if you were are wanting more of what I mentioned above, then LOSING IT is for you!  I flew through this book 0.9 seconds, with the wind blowing through my hair, smiling all the way!  Bliss Edwards is a theatre major in her senior year of college and also happens to be the queen of awkward!  I'm sure you've met those people who just find themselves in awkward situations.  They say something about their crush while he's standing right behind them, they get sick on a roller coaster while on a date or they pass gas while being tickled.  If you have ever met someone like that then you've met Bliss!  Only Bliss could possibly take it to the extreme!  One night she decides she is tired of being the resident innocent, so goes to the local bar to "pick up a guy."  Only she freaks out mid-makeout leaving him underclothed in HER apartment.  Then the next morning she walks into class only to find that her hot date from the night before is her new professor!  AWWWKWARD!  But aren't these the type situations that you would want to crawl under a rock and die if it happened to you, but you giggle hysterically if it's someone else?!?

As you can guess, there are plenty more awkward situations and an abundance of laughs through the novel.  The heart of the story is Garrick and Bliss though.  It's a story of forbidden love and perfect chemisty.  Losing it is a character driven novel, and I couldn't help but fall in love with Garrick right along side Bliss.  The first thing about Garrick, he's British!  And, that's pretty much all I have to say and most American girls are already yelling, "SOLD!"  However, he is more than just a sexy accent.  He knows his literaute!  There are references to Shakespeare, Pride and Prejudice and more that will leave all our fellow book lovers cheering.  He makes literary references without being nerdy!  He's basically a book bloggers incarnation of a perfect man!  Garrick is a struggling actor turned temporary professor.  He cares about Bliss and her classmates, giving them a dose of reality while at the same time encouraging them to follow their dreams.  He wants to do the honorable thing in the eyes of the school and leave Bliss alone.  But, we all know that if that once in a life time love staring you in the face, you don't just stand there biding your time!  I love that about Garrick.  He is stubborn (having a little of that alpha-male gene), but he's not afraid to take what he wants!

Bliss on the other hand is a mess!  I basically want to kidnap her and make her be my best friend.  She would make my life seem a whole lot simpler!  Her heart knows what she wants, but she's scared.  She's terrified of the future (as most college seniors are), of her own judgment and of heartbreak.  Bliss is so unbelievably relatable and real.  Every woman will find Bliss's stream of conscienceness achingly familiar.  Those doubts that you face when you are on the verge of going out into the world completely on your own and start making those decision that set you on the course for the rest of your life.  So, some people might not have as many freakouts as Bliss, but we've definitely at least had them in our minds.  She's sweet and endearing and will make you laugh outloud at the crazy things life throws in her path.

The theatre scene in this novel is perfection.  I lived in the theatre through high school and was a theatre major in college for 2 years (until I met my now husband, and he wasn't too fond of me kissing other boys in plays).  Cora captures the atmosphere, the relationships and the high of acting beautifully!  In chapter 26 this quote expresses it perfectly, "That was what the theatre was about--that kind of experience.  We would never be able to recreate that again.  Only the people here tonight would ever know what that show was like.  Theatre is once in a lifetime... everytime." (page 219)  If you have ever done any kind of theatre you know how perfect this quote is.  The high of the moment, the emtions and the people who lived it with you will forever be burned into your mind, heart and soul.  So many times I found myself saying yes, yes, yes, this is so true!!!  For those of you have done theatre you will find this book a wonderful trip down memory lane and for those who have not, you will get a realistic sneak peek inside the world of theatre.

I really did love every part of this book.  Those books that can take you away from reality are the special ones, and for a few precious hours I was completely swept away into a familiar world that made me laugh, cry, cheer, melt and fall in love all over again!  You rock Cora Carmack!!!

Cover Reveal: LOSING IT by Cora Carmack

So, first off, I have to say that I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! And, I'm in all honesty not saying that just because Cora is near and dear to my heart!  I devoured this book with an abundance of squeeing, melting, and daydreaming!  I am so thrilled that we are hosting the cover reveal and blog tour for Losing It!  Isn't this cover absolutely breathtaking also?  If you love New Adult novels, then you need to put this on your TBR! Trust me on this guys!!! (Be sure to add the book on goodreads!)

A little note about New Adult literature: If you're unfamiliar, we view New Adults as a transitioning time between the teenage years and adulthood.  They deal with a character's first experiences being out on their own in the real world.  Many of these books are crossover novels between YA and Adult fiction.  The age recommendation would be 18 and up.  We're actually starting up a new feature on our blog called "Not So YA Day" on Fridays to focus on New Adult books we love! We hope you enjoy it!
