2nd Annual YA Crush Tourney Blogemony
Authors, Advocates, Friends, and Fellow Book Geeks!!!
It took a little while, but we've finally recovered from the madness and chaos of our 2nd Annual YA Crush Tourney! We cannot even begin to express how much we adore you all! We unanimously think that this was our BEST TOURNAMENT SO FAR!
Do you guys agree?
Despite a somewhat rocky start, you guys made this such an awesome experience for us as moderators, the advocates, and the authors! And we LOOOVE you for it!
We had so many fabulous memories from this tournament:
Our first time ever trending on twitter on the Tournament's opening day! That day was CRAZY!
Our first ever male advocate (shout out to Benji)!
Daemon asking us if we want a cookie! *dies just at the memory*
That insane final four with Two Vampire Academy and Two Infernal Devices boys squaring off against each other!
And, of course, that insane finale that literally came down to the very last moments.
In short, this tournament was the most fun we've had in a long time!
And to celebrate, we have two huge things to tell you!
First, many of you have been asking about the future of the tournaments. We weren't planning to do any more because of some events that transpired early this summer. However, this tournament was so beyond amazing that we've decided to reconsider. Nothing is certain yet. We're looking at the possibility of doing similar tournaments, but perhaps in a different format. All we can say for sure is that there will be more fun, book-loving things to come from YA Sisterhood!
Next, it's time to honor our advocates! Remember those literary fiends who spent hours working on original defenses, stayed up all night tweeting, and made some killer icons? Yeah, we remember them, too! We had an amazing group this year, and thanks to the generosity of numerous bloggers and publishers, we're able to award them all some small prizes as our thanks!
Thanks goes to the following people and publishers for donating Advocate Prizes:
Harlequin Teen
HarperCollins
Jeri Smith-Ready, author of the Shade Series (creator of Team Kilt)
Nicole Passante, CEO shareAread
Francesca, blog reader from Ireland
David Estes, author of Moon Dwellers
Thank you times a million to all of you! You were beyond generous and provided some great prizes for our advocates!
And now, here's our final list of the characters and their advocates:
WINNER:
Adrian Ivashkov of Vampire Academy and Bloodlines by Richelle Mead.
We don't have to tell you all how amazing Adrian is. He won the tourney, after all! But we will anyway! Adrian is drop dead gorgeous vampire with snarky comments that are almost as good as his looks! He's charming with that bad party boy appeal, but definitely has a softer side. He's artistic (and he can make us a painting anytime). If he's not making you laugh, he's making you swoon! He's not your typical hero, but that's why we love him so much! Three cheers for the reign champ of the YA CRUSH TOURNEY!
Adrian was represented by the amazing Anna from The Bursting Bookshelf!
Coming in second was the devilish and sexy Will Herondale, represented by Katie from Mundie Moms and Alyssa from TMI Source! He put up an amazing fight, and his status as a major book crush is obvious!
These other amazing Characters and Advocates made it into the Elite Eight!

A huge, gigantic thank you to Rachel and Brooke also for your help behind the scenes! You 2 made things SO MUCH less stressful! I love, love, love you both!!! And lastly, thank you to the authors that created all these amazing, crush-worthy characters! You are the reason why we are able to have this touranment! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you do!!!! We hope you have many, many more fans because of these tournaments!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Second YA Crush Tourney! I’m Steph from StephLikesBooks and I am representing ALEC! He is from Cassandra Clare’s best-selling The Mortal Instruments series and I’m very excited to be supporting him! Cassandra Clare is my favourite author and I’m proud to represent one of her much loved characters! J
*PLEASE NOTE THERE MAY BE SPOILERS FROM SOME OF THE SERIES, IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THEM BEFORE*
PERSONALITY:
·
Alec is a
strong character who is very loyal when it comes to his family and those that he cares about.
“It’s me,” he said, and cleared his throat. “I could understand if you didn’t believe me, but I swear on the Angel, Iz, it’s me.” Alec said nothing, but his grip on Jace’s hand tightened. “You don’t need to swear,” he said, and with his free hand touched the parabatai rune near his collarbone. “I know. I can feel it. I don’t feel like I’m missing a part of me anymore.”

I can feel it. I don’t feel like I’m missing a part of me anymore.”
·
He’s cute
when he gets jealous :)
“You never called me back," he said. "I called you so many times and you never called me back."
Magnus looked at Alec as if he'd lost his mind. "Your city is under attack," he said. "The wards have been broken, and the streets are full of demons. And you want to know why I haven't called you?"
Alec set his jaw in a stubborn line. "I want to know why you haven't called me back."

·
He’s not
another cocky bad boy who likes to be mean, he can be insecure and have
worries.
“Good organization,” said Magnus. “I knew the man who founded it, back in the 1800s. Woolsey Scot. Respectable old werewolf family.”
Alec made an ugly sound in the back of his throat. “Did you sleep with him, too?”
Magnus’s cat eyes widened. “Alexander!”

·
He has a
soft sensitive side to him which is one of the great things about him.
“Irina Cartwright told me it was a pity no one would ever inherit my blue eyes now." He shrugged and looked toward Magnus, who took a hand off the wheel for a moment to place it on Alec's. "It's not like a stab wound you can protect me from. It's a million little paper cuts every day.”

·
Alec is
very brave but is shy at the same time.
“There is nothing weak about Alec,” said Isabelle.
“There is nothing weak about Alec,” said Isabelle.
·
He is
very loyal –especially to Magnus ;)
“But Magnus, he thought. You never told me. Never warned me it would be like this, that I would wake up one day and realize that I was going somewhere you couldn't follow. That we are essentially not the same. There's no "till death do us apart" for those who never die.”

·
He’s kind
and caring and innocent.
“Sweet pea?'" Alec said.
"I was just trying it out."
Alec shook his head. "No."
Magnus shrugged. "I'll keep at it.”

Alec shook his head. "No."
Magnus shrugged. "I'll keep at it.”
LOOKS:
Alec has black hair like his mother and bright blue eyes, is very tall and thin. He’s also very pale. He is very handsome but plays down his looks by wearing damaged sweaters. Camille even says that Alec bears a similar appearance to Will Herondale ;) If THAT doesn't make you vote, I don't know what will! :P
TALENTS:
TALENTS:
Because Alec is a Shadowhunter he has
some special talents that make him much better than ordinary mundanes ;) such as:
- Superhuman Strength.
-Superhuman
Agility.
-Superhuman
Stamina.
-Superhuman
Co-ordination.
Also, because of his alliance bond
with Magnus, Alec has some special talents with warlock power....
Spellcasting: Alec has access
to Magnus’ array of spell casting ability, including the ability to create
Portals, memory manipulation, healing and curing of others of demonic poison, levitation,
in addition to other magical effects.
VOTE FOR ALEC! :D
I’ll give you all free cookies ;)

Introduction
Hello my name is Amanda from Stuck In YA Books, I am representing Noah, who is from the debut novel: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
by Michelle Hodkin. Noah is Mara Dyer’s love interest. He is one of
the most interesting characters because he is smart, British and is a
ladies’ man. Once you read this book you will not be able to put this
down!! Noah is one crush worthy guys in the YA Crush Tourney and he is
very good with words (especially Euphemisms) He is one HOT bad boy who
is super sweet to Mara.
First Meeting+ LOOKS
“I whipped around at the sound of the warm, lilting British accent behind me.
The person it belonged to sat on the picnic table under the tiki hut. His general state of disarray was almost enough to distract me from his face. The boy- if he could be called that, looking like he belonged in college not high school- wore Chucks with holes worn through, no laces. Slim charcoal pants and a white button down shirt covered his lean, spare frame. His tie was loose, his cuffs undone, and his blazer lay in a heap beside him as he lazily leaned back on the palms of his hands.
His strong jaw and chin were slightly scruffy, as though he hadn't shaved in days, and his eyes looked gray in the shade. Strands of his dark chestnut hair stuck out every which way… He could be considered pale compared to everyone else I'd observed in Florida thus far, which is to say he wasn't orange.
He was beautiful. And he was staring at me.” (Chapter 4)

There is nothing for me to explain there
Personality:
Noah is sarcastic, awesome, funny, romantic and BRITISH!! Who wouldn’t
want to have a crush on a British Boy with good looks.! He loves the
word “rubbish” and listening to a British boy what is not to love about
his personality. Noah is also VERY rich and lives in a mansion. He would
also defend those who need defending example is that he always defends
Mara who mocks her for dating Noah but he would also never give up on
her. He is also a gentleman and also has chivalry (due to him and his
British culture + upbringing Here is an example of his funny side:
"I'm picking you up tomorrow morning," Noah said, as he brushed a strand of hair from my face and tucked it behind my ear...
I blinked hard, and shook my head to clear it. "But it's out of your way."
"And?"
"And Daniel has to drive to school anyway."
"So?"
I blinked hard, and shook my head to clear it. "But it's out of your way."
"And?"
"And Daniel has to drive to school anyway."
"So?"
"So wh-"
Noah placed a finger on my lips. "Don't. Don't as me why. It's annoying. I want to. That's it. That's all. So let me."
Focus, Mara. "Everyone's going to think that we're together."
"Let them," he said as his eyes searched my face.
"But-"
"But nothing. I want them to think that."
[...] "I'm a bad actress," I said by way of explanation.
[...] "Then don't act. See you at eight." He let go of my hand and walked back to his car.

Loyalty and Wit – (With help from Sara @ The Page Sage)
When Noah cares about someone, he’ll do anything for them, especially in Mara’s case. He also has a quick wit, and he uses it both to defile children’s stories and to stand up for Mara.
A perfect example of this is when Anna (the mean girl) steals Mara’s
sketchbook (which is full of drawings of Noah) to embarrass her.
He’s a Gentleman
He opens doors for Mara, gets her coffee without being asked, gives her
rides to school… in short, he’s chivalrous, and what girl wouldn’t want
that in a guy?
Not to mention, he knows how to compliment a girl:
“You smell good,” He whispered into my neck. He was warm against me. Instinctively, I arched back into him and smiled.
“Really?”
“Mmm-hmm. Delicious. Like bacon.”
Kissing Skills
Noah Shaw knows how to kiss, as proven by this passage:
Noah parted my legs with his knee and my lips with his tongue, and I was in his mouth and oh.
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. I felt myself unfold, turned
inside out by his insistent mouth. When Noah pulled back I gasped at the
loss, but he slid his hand beneath my back and lifted me, and we were
sitting and his head was dipping and our mouths were colliding and I
pushed him down and lingered above, hovered before I crashed into him.
Supernatural Powers *Spoilers*
Noah can heal any wound by touch alone and he can hear people’s
heartbeats, pulses, emotions. He’s determined to help the people he
hears that are in danger and he’s even more resolute when it comes to
helping Mara. He even helps a poor, abused dog. That’s right, he’s a
HOT, KIND guy who helps PUPPIES.
His Devilish Good Looks (not to mention his British accent)
It certainly doesn’t hurt that Noah Shaw is one of the most (if not *the most*) attractive guys in Young Adult fiction.
His strong jaw and chin
were slightly scruffy, as though he hadn’t shaved in days, and his eyes
looked gray in the shade. Strands of his dark chestnut hair stuck out
every which way. Bedroom hair. He could be considered pale in comparison
to everyone else I’d met in Florida thus far, which is to say he wasn’t
orange.
He was beautiful. And he was smiling at me.
Vote Noah Shaw as your YA Crush And Don't Forget to check out Michelle Hodkin's blog also! http://michellehodkin.blogspot.ca/2012/07/previews-part-1.html

Exclusive Interview with Jace, Winner of the 1st Annual YA Crush Tournament
First off, congratulations to you, Jace, on the winning the very 1st YA-Sisterhood Summer Crushin' Tournament! All of your fans turned out in full force to throw their support behind you!
YA-Sisterhood: How does it feel to be the winner of the YA Crush Tourney bringing in over 20,000 votes just in the last round? How big is your ego now?
Jace: It's not that I have a big ego. It's that I'm realistic. No one likes the falsely modest.
YA-Sisterhood: Going into the tournament, who did you think your biggest competition was?
Jace: I've heard a few people mention that Edward Cullen fellow so I admit he had me on my toes. We had some plans once to form an emo band together, paint our nails black, and go on the road, but a cage match works too.

YA-Sisterhood: Were you intimidated by the Zachary fan's rhymes, Braveheart quotes, and army of kilts?
Jace: Well, it reminded me of some advice my dad gave me once. That would be my adoptive dad, not the evil one or the dead one. Very confusing, I know. Anyway, he said it isn't that brave men don't feel fear, it's that they forge on regardless. There may have been a few moments when my competition's flawless command of iambic pentameter caused me some anxiety, by I trusted I would win out in the end.
YA-Sisterhood: Would you ever wear a kilt?
Jace: Perhaps if Clary were to insist on it, and I could get her to wear, say, a cheerleading uniform, I would consider it. The thing is I'm used to doing a lot of jumps and flips when I fight demons and I don't quite see how one manages to keep the kilt from flying up when you're upside-down, and suddenly everyone's looking at your underwear. And I don't think people should just get to see me in my underwear without paying a respectable sum beforehand.

YA-Sisterhood: Now that you are officially The King of YA Crushes, what is your next goal in life?
Jace: I think I'll probably return to the thing I was doing before, which was saving the world and looking hot doing it.
Jace: I think I'll probably return to the thing I was doing before, which was saving the world and looking hot doing it.
YA-Sisterhood: If we have a tournament of Heroines, how do you think Clary will fare?
Jace: My girl would kick ass, as she always does.
YA-Sisterhood: BTW-What did Clary say about you winning the tournament?
Jace: I believe she said, "Oh, great, now you're going to be intolerable." What she meant of course, was, "I love you even more now than I ever thought possible."
Jace: These ripped abs and badass tats are available to be admired by all, regardless of age or gender. Just as long as you remember that Jace Wayland-Morgenstern-Herondale-Lightwood is strictly a "look, don't touch" proposition. I am taken.

YA-Sisterhood: If we have a tournament of villains, who would you pick to win, Valentine or Sebastian? Why?
Jace: Sebastian. Valentine honestly thought he was doing the right thing, however misguided he was in the end. Sebastian just wants what he wants and will do anything to get it. I think there are things he'd be willing to do that even Valentine would have recoiled at.
YA-Sisterhood: How do you feel about having all your thoughts aired to the public during the Manor Scene? It was lovely for us, but how was it for you?
Jace: I think I came off pretty well. Sensitive, with that touch of torment. I would have liked more description of my excellent technique, but I suppose it was my viewpoint.

YA-Sisterhood: So, Dirty Sexy Club Scene...
Jace: What can I say. I'm a giver.
Here are a few final questions from your YA Crush Tourney Fans:
YA-Sisterhood: If you weren't a Shadowhunter, but a Mundane, what do you think you'd do with your life? School? Career?
Jace: Well, I have an aptitude for killing things, so it's good that I have a job that channels my abilities. Clary says that as a mundane I would probably wind up being either an actor or a serial killer, although I don't think they pay you for the second one.

Jace: Jace Lightwood.
Jace: Jace Lightwood.
YA-Sisterhood: Will you marry me? Sorry I had to ask.... (That was actually from many fans)
Jace: I don't think Clary would be pleased, but you can put your name on the list — it's in alphabetical order.
YA-Sisterhood: I know this probably doesn't surprise you, but many of your fans are of an older age (Cougars), what do you think about that?

Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare: Series in Quotes
To honor Jace this week for winning the YA Crush Tournament, we've been having a week of Shadowhunters. We've had features on BOTH Shadowhunting series, The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices. Today, we are doing a little feature we love here on the YA Sisterhood blog. Its called a book in quotes. This time its going to be a series in quotes. This will highlight Jace in all his crush-worthy glory! All of these quotes are Cassandra Clare's and are from the first 3 books in The Mortal Instruments series.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
***Be warned this has serious spoilers for all 3 books!***
"Clary tipped her head back to look at him but saw only the stars cartwheeling across the dark sky overhead. Then the bottom dropped out of everything, and even Jace's arms around her were not enough to keep her from falling."
"She's not a mundane." Jace said quietly.
"Don't stop there. I suppose there are also, what, vampires and werewolves and zombies?"
"Of course there are. Although you mostly find zombies farther south, where the voudun priests are."
"What about mummies? Do they only hang around Egypt?"
"Don't be ridiculous. No one believes in mummies.'"
"Of course there are. Although you mostly find zombies farther south, where the voudun priests are."
"What about mummies? Do they only hang around Egypt?"
"Don't be ridiculous. No one believes in mummies.'"
"I see violence in your future a great deal of blood shed by you and others. You'll fall in love with the wrong person. Also, you have an enemy." -Madam Dorothea
"I am one of the Clave. It's in my blood and bones. So tell me, if you're so sure this wasn't my fault, why is it that the first thought in my mind when I saw Abbadon wasn't for my fellow warriors but for you?" His other hand came up; he was holding her face, prisoned between his palms. "I know-I knew-Alec wasn't acting like himself. I knew something was wrong. But all I could think about was you..."
"Valentine was insane," he said. "Brilliant, but insane. He cared about nothing but killing demons and Downworlders. Nothing but making the world pure." -Hodge
"Jace kept her hand in his, sending tiny electrical shocks traveling up and down her veins from every point where he touched her: her fingers, her wrist, the palm of her hand."
"He's not your father!"
Jace looked as if she'd slapped him. "Why are you so determined not to believe us?"
"Because she loves you," said Valentine.
"Jocelyn is your mother Jonathan. And Clary--Clary is your sister." -Valentine
"That sounds terrific, thought Cary. Just you, your comatose wife, your shell-shocked son, and your daughter who hates your guts. Not to mention that your two kids may be in love with each other. Yeah, that sounds like a perfect family reunion."
"He made a sound like a choked laughed before he reached out and pulled her into her arms. She was aware of Luke watching them from the window, but she shut her eyes resolutely and buried her face against Jace's shoulder. He smelled of salt and blood, and only when his mouth came close to her ear did she understand what he was saying, and it was the simplest litany of all: her name, just her name."
"I don't want to be a man," said Jace. "I want to be an angst-ridden teenager who can't confront his own inner demons and takes it out verbally on other people instead."
"Well," said Luke, "you're doing a fantastic job."
"Well," said Luke, "you're doing a fantastic job."
"For a moment Clary thought she might fall; she felt as if something essential had been torn away from her, an arm or a leg, and she stared at Jace in blank astonishment--what did he feel, did he feel nothing? She didn't think she could bear it if he felt nothing."
"Something inside Clary cracked and broke, and words came pouring out. "What do you want me to tell you? The truth? The truth is that I love Simon like I should love you, and I wish he was my brother and you weren't, but I can't do anything about that and neither can you!"
“Desire is not always lessened by disgust. Nor can it be bestowed, like a favor, to those most deserving of it. And as my words bind my magic, so you can know the truth. If she doesn’t desire his kiss, she won’t be free."
"When you love someone, you don't have a choice."
"She told me," he went on, as if Clary hadn't spoken, "that I had turned her first child into a monster. She left me before I could do the same to her second. You. But she was too late."
"But it was Valentine who answered, not taking his eyes from the wall. There was a look on his face--not at all the look Clary had expected, a looked that mixed triumph and horror, despair and delight."
"I'll just be your brother from now on." -Jace
“You’re my sister,” he said finally. “My sister, my blood, my family. I should want to protect you”—he laughed soundlessly and without any humor—“to protect you from the sort of boys who want to do with you exactly what I want to do.”
"Tomorrow by midnight we'll be either at war or under Valentine's rule. This could be the last night of our lives, certainly the last even barely ordinary one. The last night we got to sleep and get up just as we always have. And all I could think of was that I wanted to spend it with you." "Jace..." "I don't mean lke that. I won't touch you, not if you don't want me to. I know it's wrong. God, it's all kinds of wrong, but I just want to lie down with you and wake up with you, just one, just one time ever in my life. It's jus this one night. In the grand scheme of things, how much can one night matter?"
"So Jace," Clary whispered. "Jace is not my brother?"
She felt her mother squeeze her hand... "No, Clary. He's not."
"But there was no way I was going to let you die thinking you you have demon blood, or with out telling you that there's nothing wrong with you...And you needed to know that Clary's not your sister," she said more gently. "Because--because you just did." -Isabelle
"Jace's eyes flew wide. A look of disbelieving confusion passed over his face; he glanced down at himself, where Maellartach stuck grotesquely out of his chest...Valentine drew his hand back then jerking the Sword out of Jace's chest."
"He [Jace] was a Shadowhunter; he had died in battle; he deserved the last benediction. Ave atque vale. Her lips shaped the words, though they fell from her mouth in silent puffs of air."
"Like a felled tree, Valentine crashed to the ground and lay still--his mouth open in a silent cry, his blind eyes fixed forever in a last look of incredulous betrayal.
That was the justice of heaven. I trust that you are not dismayed."
"You can compel me to one action, Clarrissa Morgenstern. What is it that you want?" -Raziel

"Clary hesitated--only for a moment, but the moment stretched out as long as any moment ever had. She could ask for anything, she thought dizzily, anything--an end to pain or world hunger or disease, or for peace on earth. But then again, perhaps these things weren't in the the power of angels to grant, or they would have already been granted. And perhaps people are supposed to find these for themselves.
It didn't matter, anyway. There was only one thing she could ask for, in the end, only one real choice.
"Jace" she said."
"And now I’m looking at you," he said, "and you’re asking me if I still want you, as if I could stop loving you. As if I would want to give up the thing that makes me stronger than anything else ever has. I never dared give much of myself to anyone before – bits of myself to the Lightwoods, to Isabelle and Alec, but it took years to do it – but, Clary, since the first time I saw you, I have belonged to you completely. I still do. If you want me."
"I told her I had everything I wanted." -Clary
"Every memory was valuable, even the bad ones."

To participate all you have to do is:
•Grab your current read
•Open to a random page
•Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page
•BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

"There was something in his eyes, a sort of quizzical admiration; she wondered if it was simply admiration of ****'s looks. "No," he said. "No, even though you are the perfect picture of ****, I can see Tessa through it somehow--as if, if I were to scrape away a layer of paint, there would be my Tessa underneath."" (ARC)
