The Winner of Match #23 is Dank!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to representing Dank today! I started reading about Dank about a year ago I would say, and well, let's face it. He's hot; he can sing and he's death. Yeah - Death - talk about bad ass.

Personality: He's pretty honest and upfront. For the most part, each character who has a run in with Dank knows where they stand with him. The only time he withholds anything is when it might effect/affect Pagan in some way. He writes music from his heart. Dank has a sarcastic side, that isn't abrasive, but just enough to tease Pagan. He takes his "work" seriously and after his love with Pagan, understands what he is doing more clearly, so he is willing to grow (how many guys really are?)

Looks: Bluer than blue eyes. So blue that they have been referred to as gems. Look at the covers. Those babies pop. He also has black, not too long hair, that curls on the ends. A sultry smirk reserved only for Pagan and a dimple. Just one, sinisterly cute dimple. Smoking hot body. Did I mention his blue eyes?

Talents: Besides easing people into their deaths? He serenades (and well, like soothingly and sensually) his girlfriend Pagan with a guitar and lullabies that he has written about how she has saved him. I mean, what girl doesn't want that? I do.

Special Attributes/Best Qualities: One of my favorite qualities about him is his compassion. He can be a tough, I know that, but he can be so sweet and he doesn't have to be. For example, there was a little girl in EXISTENCE and he talked to the little girl and tried to make dying easier and made it a beautiful process. He didn't have to. His compassion extends farther than Pagan. Then there is that whole he is Death thing. Ya know - no biggie. Or the fact that he is a deity.

Anything else? This year, with the help of my street team (WHO ARE AWESOME) and the great Abbi Glines, I have added some other reader's favorite qualities, moments, and quotes.

One of my favorite quotes: “He's already proven he'll defy Heaven to keep her. If Hell wants a piece of him too, then bring it on.”  SWOON!

Two Responses from Abbi Glines!
What are some of your favorite things about Dank?
He holds the key to life or death in his hands yet he becomes as weak as a human when he falls for Pagan. There is something about watching a Deity act like a mortal because of love that gets to you. One of the reasons I love Greek Mythology.

And why was he a fun character to write? Because he wasn't a man. He was something that every human fears but they know they will meet one day. Writing him with emotions and giving him a voice was almost comforting in a way.

From the Greedy Booker - (and a quote I love) - “I’m not a man so I do not have a heart that loves as a human does. I’m an immortal god that dwells with supreme power because I hold the keys to Death. But you are my existence. I am yours.”- Existence

From Jorie Sus- Confronting Ghede with the Warriors threatening to destroy voodoo if he doesn't release Pagan's soul - (I have to say I loved this too. BAD ASS and it reminded me of how tough Dank is.)

From Erica Cope "It's the scene where Pagan is home from dress shopping and Dank comments on the pale pink dress then....

Both his hands gripped my waist pulling me hard up against his body. "You tempt me. I can't be tempted. I'm not made to be tempted but you, Pagan Moore, you tempt me."
Then he goes on to say:
"I didn't understand it at first. But now I know. It's your soul calling to me. Souls mean nothing to me. They aren't supposed to. But yours has become my obsession."
Totaly swoonworthy moment for me. :)
What's better than having a sexy rockstar serenade you in your sleep? :)

Kayla -  Okay, seriously, this year's tourney is full of total hotness and it was hard to choose which fella I wanted to support. I decided Dank was my man this year to support because, well, what's hotter than the baddest guy ever (hello - he's DEATH) who also plays the guitar plus sings and loves fiercely! <3 data-blogger-escaped-font="">

Willow D“I realised you owned me one night in this room. I was singing to you and you were sleeping. You made a little noise in your sleep like you were distressed and I panicked and ran to your side. You grabbed my arm in your sleep and pulled it up against your face and went back to sleep. I didn't want to ever move.”

So if you love Dank or just fell in love with him, support us! Tweet for #TeamDank, on facebook, on your blog and where ever else!

Four/Tobias from Divergent by Veronica Roth

My name's Becky B. and my blog is Bibliognome. I'm thrilled to be advocating for Four, the supremely awesome guy from the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.

*loud clapping and cheering*

* Okay now while reading this post just imagine that you have You're the Best the song from The Karate Kid movie playing full blast, I find that makes everything more dramatic/dauntless (just like Divergent and Four.)  :)

Here we are again getting ready for another YA Crush Tourney. Everyone knows that there are a plethora of capable crushes in this tourney but I'm here today to tell you that Four is the crush that should rise to the top of this Tourney.

If you haven't read the Divergent series here's my review of Divergent and Insurgent.  I can't wait to read the last book and am crossing all of my fingers and toes hoping that the movie of Divergent will be as epic as the book.

YA Sisterhood

Look into those eyes and you should know without a doubt who to vote for. #TeamFour

Here we see how Four sees himself, in Four's own quote from Divergent:
“Two things you should know about me; The first is that I am deeply suspicious of people in general. It is my nature to expect the worst of them. And the second is that I am unexpectedly good with computers.”

Yeah, he's a little pessimistic but in the world of Divergent where choice is everything once you choose a faction be it AbnegationCandorDauntlessAmity, or Erudite you have to follow their rules or you get rejected by society.

As the tagline for Divergent says, "One Choice Can Transform You." Four is definitely a guy that has transformed himself.  He is willing to sacrifice everything for the love of his life and he and Tris might just be the keys to changing the whole society.

Be Brave and make the right choice, Vote for Four :)

Four Haiku
Strong and capable
Fierce fighter almost no fear
Four worth fighting for

I made a song for everybody to sing while they vote for/when they want to support Four, it's sung to the tune of I Love You aka that song from the Barney TV show:

Four Amour

I Love Four,
You should too,
Let’s be Dauntless through and through,
With a great big Vote,
and a plea from me to you,
Won’t you say you’ll Vote Four too!

I love Four,
You should too,
Go and join the Team Four Crew,
With a great big cheer,
and a plea from me to you,
Won’t you say you’ll Vote Four too.

Now make sure to VOTE for Four as much and as often as possible and let's take Four to the top of the YA Crush Tourney!  :) Show your support on Twitter, Facebook, your blog, etc. You can follow me on Twitter at @GeckyBoz and make sure to use the #TeamFour tag so I can see all your tweets.

The Winner of Match #22 is Dimitri!

Dimitri from The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Hello everyone! *Waves* Welcome to the 3rd Annual YA Crush Tourney! I am Chandra from Unabridged Bookshelf and I have the great honor of representing the esteemed Dimitri Belikov this year! If I seem familiar, you may have seen me here last year representing another fellow from the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series by the incrediably talented Richelle Mead, Mr. Eddie Castile. I had a lot of fun last year, and could not be more excited to have the chance to be an advocate again let alone for the gorgeous guardian Dimitri.

Dimitri is the knight is shining armor girls have been dreaming about for years. He is protective, noble, always willing to put his life on the line for those he loves and those he has sworn to protect. He takes his duty as Guardian for the Moroi (good vampires) very seriously, especially after losing his first charge and his best friend to the Strigoi (bad vampires).Dimitri is a true gentleman and most defiantly crush worthy.

Dimitri is tall, dark, and dreamy all wrapped up in a Russian accent. Dimitri stands just over 6’7” with dark soulful eyes, and long dark hair and he is incredibly fit. Don’t believe me, why not find out what Ms. Rose Hathaway has to say about Dimitri’s looks.

“The other problem in my life is Dimitri. He's the one who killed Natalie, and he's a total badass. He's also pretty good-looking. Okay-more than good-looking. He's hot-like, the kind of hot that makes you stop walking on the street and get hit by traffic.
 Rose Hathaway-Frostbite

Dimitri has many talents including making girls melt around him. He is a fierce warrior, and is admired by the entire Dhampir and Moroi world. When we first meet Dimitri in Vampire Academy he already has six Molnija marks which are given every time a Dhampir Guardian kills the evil Strigoi. He is a lethal machine who only softens ups around those he loves.

“Yet, it had been Dimitri’s gentleness and thoughtfulness mixed with that deadliness that made him so wonderful. The same hands that wielded stakes with such precision would carefully brush the hair out of my face. The eyes that could astutely spot any danger in the area would regard me wonderingly and worshipfully, like I was the most beautiful and amazing woman in the world.”
Rose Hathaway-Blood Promise.

As advocate, I am here to campaign for Dimitri and convince you of why you should vote for my favorite Dhampir. If the above has yet to convince you, then let me leave you with one final quote for you to ponder over.

“Dimitri: Well, you and I will both be Lissa's guardians someday. I need to protect her at all costs. If a pack of Strigoi come, I need to throw my body between them and her.
Rose: I know that. Of course that's what you have to do.
Dimitri: No. If I let myself love you, I won't throw myself in front of her. I'll throw myself in front of you.”

The Darkling from The Grisha Series by Leigh Bardugo

Cheers my dears! My name is Emily and I run the blog Falling For YA. I will be advocating for The Darkling   from the wonderful Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone & Siege and Storm. From the first page I knew I was going to love the Darkling he is my type of guy; dark, sexy, and just the right amount of evil!
I didn’t ask you for flattery.”
– The Darkling, Shadow and Bone

Oh my dear Darkling you didn’t ask for my flattery but I’m going to freely give it. Of all the YA bad boys out there you take the cake. You truly are the villain we love to love!

The Darkling is the ultimate bad boy

“He had a sharp beautiful face, a shock of thick black hair, and clear gray eyes that glimmered like quartz. I knew that the more powerful Grisha were said to live long lives, and Darklings were the most powerful of them all. But I felt the wrongness of it and I remembered Eva’s words: He’s not natural. None of them are”

He may not be natural but he is hot! Strong jaw line, eyes like granite, and he’s constantly wearing black clothes with his symbol, the sliver of a moon during an eclipse.

The Darkling is complex, deep, and lonely

“Like Calls to Like”

Maybe that is the reason we swoon over The Darkling? Because like calls to like. We see something in him that is reflected in ourselves. Those dark thoughts that creep in to your soul at night, the loneliness that overtakes when we are truly alone, the longing to change the world for good or better, to leave a mark. The Darkling feels those same things.

I knew he was a practiced liar. He could fake any emotion, play on any human failing. But I couldn’t deny what I’d felt in Novyi Zem or the truth of what the Darkling had shown me: my own sadness, my own longing, reflected back to me in his bleak gray eyes.

The Darklings got that Something Special

The Darkling is the leader of the Second Army. He is second only to the Ravkan King and he views the King as nothing more then a child. The Darkling is the most powerful Grisha and he knows it. The Darkling isn’t afraid to use his power for good…or evil…depending on your perspective.

The Darkling also has a host of skills that only he possesses. He can summon darkness to blind his enemies, use darkness to slice his enemies in half (the Cut). He’s also a living amplifier which means that his power can be used to strengthen the power of other Grisha.

The Darkling is someone you want to have on your side in a fight!
“So I'm the Darkling's prisoner?"
"You're under his protection."
"What's the difference?"
"Pray you never find out.”

Why should you vote for the Darkling?

The Darkling is:
♥ Powerful
♥ Complex
♥ Lonely
♥ Sexy
♥ Deep
♥ Charming
♥ He is the villain we love to love!

If The Darkling got your vote make sure to tweet using the hashtag #DarklingsDarlings

The Sisters Say:  Suspenseful, Thrilling, and Spectacular
Can Tessa pose as Madison . . . and stop a killer before it’s too late?

Tessa is a Variant, able to absorb the DNA of anyone she touches and mimic their appearance. Shunned by her family, she’s spent the last two years training with the Forces with Extraordinary Abilities, a secret branch of the FBI. When a serial killer rocks a small town in Oregon, Tessa is given a mission: she must impersonate Madison, a local teen, to find the killer before he strikes again.

Tessa hates everything about being an impostor—the stress, the danger, the deceit—but loves playing the role of a normal girl. As Madison, she finds friends, romance, and the kind of loving family she’d do anything to keep. Amid action, suspense, and a ticking clock, this super-human comes to a very human conclusion: even a girl who can look like anyone struggles the most with being herself.

I LOVED this one!!!  I really wish there were more thrillers like this one in the YA genre.  From Chapter 1, I was completely hooked, and no matter how fast I turned the pages, it wasn’t fast enough.  I couldn’t wait to discover the villain and watch as Tessa finally discovered the strength in herself.

I really enjoyed the idea of “Variants,” people with extraordinary abilities living among us.  This book has a flare of X-Men to it with the suspense and mystery of any great thriller (you name it—Bourne, Bond, etc.).  Seeing all the different abilities was intriguing, but more importantly, I really enjoyed seeing how having these abilities transformed and altered their views on the simplest things—safety, love, truth, friendship.  There is always an air of danger to their lives and their relationships, and it really makes them more vulnerable than most—despite their powers that put them above most of mankind.

Tessa was a great main character.  She was strong and confident, but she was also realistic—making some really dumb moves at times.  Her vulnerability in her feelings for Alec also added to her realism.  Many people will think that her heartsickness over him is annoying, but I thought it made her more human in a book where normal humans were few and far between.  In truth though, I’m hoping she ends up with Devon—the brother of the girl Tessa is sent to impersonate.  He’s a bit on the mysterious side, and I love the boys with secrets!

Of course, Alec definitely has secrets of his own, and I don’t think we are finished discovering them all.  Alec is kind of like Superman (minus the flying)—he’s much stronger and much faster than most humans.  Therefore, you can imagine what swooniness could come about if Tessa were to, I don’t know, faint and have to be carried home?   Still, all the strength in the world and he can’t muster up the courage to tell Tessa how he feels, even though it is so obvious from the first page.

I really liked that Susanne kept her story succinct, but not so short that it felt unfinished.  There was action in every chapter, and I never got bored with the characters.  The pacing was great because it wasn’t drawn out just to hit a certain number of pages.  The plot carried on perfectly, without extraneous details that usually drive me nuts.  I am definitely looking forward to the sequel!

Overall, this was a great read, and I am definitely sorry I didn’t pick it up sooner.  The mystery and suspense were great, and although many are claiming that the plotline is cliché or generic, I totally disagree.  I was hypnotized by these powerful Variants, and I am dying to find out what happens next.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The Winner of Match #21 is Daemon!

2013VoteDAEMON-TOURNEY-RECTANGLE

Hey there tourney voters! I'm Stacey from the Fantasy Book Addict. If you know me from twitter, then you already know I'm obsessed with most of these YA crushes. I have a VERY LONG list of fictional boyfriends and Daemon Black is right at the top which is why it makes total sense I should represent him! Now, let's get to the awesome that is Daemon. Not only am I going to tell you why you should vote for Daemon, I'm going to tell you why he should WIN the whole damn thing! Fact #1: Daemon Black is over-the-top SMEXY! My girl Katy describes him best in four sentences: "Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys." (Obsidian) Do you still need more? How about this description from Obsidian:

Pepe Toth
"Heavy footsteps came from the other side, and then the door was swinging open and I was staring at a very broad, tan, well-muscled chest. A naked chest. My gaze dropped and my breath sort of...stalled. Jeans hung low on his hips, revealing a thin line of dark hair that formed below his navel and disappeared under the band of the jeans." Or this: "My gaze finally traveling north again, I noted thick, sooty lashes fanning the tips of his high cheeks and hiding the color of his eyes as he looked down at me." Don't forget his: ".full, kissable lips." And this: "[eyes] so green and brilliant they couldn't be real." *wipes sweaty brow* Yeah, I'm pretty sure I made my point. Daemon is all types of yum.

Fact #2: His cocky persona only makes us love him more! Who doesn't like confidence? Well, Daemon oozes it. He knows he's hot, and worse, he knows Katy does too. But, he's always really playful about it which only makes us love him more. "You're such an ass. Has.anyone ever told you that?" He flashed a genuinely amused smile. "Oh, Kitten, every single day of my blessed life." (Obsidian) "You probably even dream about me." His gaze lowered to my mouth. I felt my lips part. "I bet you even write my name in your notebooks, over and over again, with a little heart drawn around it." (Obsidian) "He rolled his eyes. "You just like me for my body. Admit it." "Well, yeah..." His lashes lifted and his eyes glittered like jewels. "I feel like man-candy" (Opal)

Fact #3: He will do anything to protect his family and Katy! Daemon was totally rude when he first met Katy. Actually, he spends a good portion of Obsidian being a jerk to pretty much everyone. But, we find out later that he was trying to protect her. He knows he can put Katy in danger and he puts aside his own feelings to try to keep her safe. That, to me, is the definition of swoon-worthy. "This was wrong. Think of Dawson. Look at what happened to him. Did I want to take the same risk? Leave Dee all alone? But even now I could feel her skin, taste it--sweet and sugary like candy. Hear that wonderful sound she made over and over again, haunting every mile I put between us." (Obsidian - The Morning After) In Daemon's mind, it's his job to protect his family. Nothing else matters to him. Throughout the series, he sacrifices himself, and when things go wrong, he blames himself. The ultimate hero.

Fact #4: He's more vulnerable than he lets on! More than anything, I think Daemon just wants to live a normal life. It seems like Katy is the one person who can see who he really is. "A smile pulled at his lips as he looked away. "I had more fun that day than I can remember. I know it sounds stupid, but--'' "It's not stupid." My heart lurched. At once, I sort of understood him better. Underneath it all, I think he wanted to be normal." "And there was the real Daemon. Still a total badass, but there was pain in him, a vulnerability in the lines of his face that I doubted anyone ever got to see." (Obsidian)

2013DAEMON YA CRUSH TOURNEY VERTICAL
Fact #5: He knows how to deliver a memorable kiss! I have two words for you people: Laptop Scene "There wasn't a moment of hesitation. His mouth was on mine, and I stopped breathing. He shuddered and there was a sound from the back of his throat, half growl, half moan. Little shivers of pleasure and panic shot through me as he deepened the kiss, parting my lips. I stopped thinking. I pushed off the wall, sealing the tiny space between us, pressing against him, digging my fingers into his hair. It was soft, silky―" If you want to read more, you'll have to read Obsidian. There's only so much hotness I can fit into one post. ;-p Okay, okay.I feel like I've made my point. Daemon Black is the ultimate YA Crush! He deserves your VOTE!

Noah S. from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Hi everyone! I'm Sara from The Page Sage and I'm representing Noah Shaw from the amazing Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin. There are no words to express how excited I am to be advocating a character from one of my favorite series. I can't wait to tell you all about Noah... So let's get started, shall we?

Let’s talk looks.
Noah is gorgeous. He has messy, just-got-out-of-bed hair with a sexy five o’clock shadow. His clothes are constantly in disarray, in a way his tall, lean form can most definitely pull off. As for his smile, it’s one of those half-smirks, as if he’s hiding a secret. His eyes? A smoldering gray-blue.
But what about brains?
I mean, looks are nice, but intelligence is truly attractive. And Noah is smart. I’m not just basing that on his witty repartee- he’s also widely read. (I mean, come on: a BOOKISH hot guy. Excuse me while I swoon.)

British Accent.
He has one. Need I say more?
YA Sisterhood
What else do you need to know about Noah Shaw?
1.) He saved a dying dog.

2.) He’s a tortured soul.

3.) He plays guitar.

4.) He’s the King of Sexual Innuendos.
’Why do you always look like you just rolled out of bed?’
‘Because usually I have.’ And the way he raised his eyebrow at me made my blush.”

5.) He’s also terribly romantic.
“‘Mara, I have never felt about anyone the way I feel about you. And when you're ready for me to show you,’ he said, brushing my hair to the side, ‘I'm going to kiss you.’ His thumb grazed my ear and his hand curved around my neck. He leaned me backward and my eyes fluttered closed. I breathed in the scent of him as he leaned in and kissed the hollow under my ear. My pulse raced under his lips.
‘And I won't settle for anything less.
’”

What more can you want in a Crush, right? He's drop-dead sexy with razor sharp intelligence, with a British accent and devious smile. BUT, in case I haven't convinced you yet, I wrote a song based on his relationship with Mara. (Which, admittedly, may not convince you at all, but I get points for effort, right?)

Mara was told she'd "love him to ruins." Now it's our turn to love Noah to victory!
