Hey there tourney voters! I'm Stacey from the Fantasy Book Addict. If you know me from twitter, then you already know I'm obsessed with most of these YA crushes. I have a VERY LONG list of fictional boyfriends and Daemon Black is right at the top which is why it makes total sense I should represent him! Now, let's get to the awesome that is Daemon. Not only am I going to tell you why you should vote for Daemon, I'm going to tell you why he should WIN the whole damn thing! Fact #1: Daemon Black is over-the-top SMEXY! My girl Katy describes him best in four sentences: "Beautiful face. Beautiful body. Horrible attitude. It was the holy trinity of hot boys." (Obsidian) Do you still need more? How about this description from Obsidian:

"Heavy footsteps came from the other side, and then the door was swinging open and I was staring at a very broad, tan, well-muscled chest. A naked chest. My gaze dropped and my breath sort of...stalled. Jeans hung low on his hips, revealing a thin line of dark hair that formed below his navel and disappeared under the band of the jeans." Or this: "My gaze finally traveling north again, I noted thick, sooty lashes fanning the tips of his high cheeks and hiding the color of his eyes as he looked down at me." Fact #2: His cocky persona only makes us love him more! Who doesn't like confidence? Well, Daemon oozes it. He knows he's hot, and worse, he knows Katy does too. But, he's always really playful about it which only makes us love him more. "You're such an ass. Has.anyone ever told you that?" He flashed a genuinely amused smile. "Oh, Kitten, every single day of my blessed life." (Obsidian) "You probably even dream about me." His gaze lowered to my mouth. I felt my lips part. "I bet you even write my name in your notebooks, over and over again, with a little heart drawn around it." (Obsidian) "He rolled his eyes. "You just like me for my body. Admit it." "Well, yeah..." Fact #3: He will do anything to protect his family and Katy! Daemon was totally rude when he first met Katy. Actually, he spends a good portion of Obsidian being a jerk to pretty much everyone. But, we find out later that he was trying to protect her. He knows he can put Katy in danger and he puts aside his own feelings to try to keep her safe. That, to me, is the definition of swoon-worthy. "This was wrong. Think of Dawson. Look at what happened to him. Did I want to take the same risk? Leave Dee all alone? But even now I could feel her skin, taste it--sweet and sugary like candy. Hear that wonderful sound she made over and over again, haunting every mile I put between us." (Obsidian - The Morning After) In Daemon's mind, it's his job to protect his family. Nothing else matters to him. Throughout the series, he sacrifices himself, and when things go wrong, he blames himself. The ultimate hero.

Fact #4: He's more vulnerable than he lets on! More than anything, I think Daemon just wants to live a normal life. It seems like Katy is the one person who can see who he really is. "A smile pulled at his lips as he looked away. "I had more fun that day than I can remember. I know it sounds stupid, but--'' "It's not stupid." My heart lurched. At once, I sort of understood him better. Underneath it all, I think he wanted to be normal." "And there was the real Daemon. Still a total badass, but there was pain in him, a vulnerability in the lines of his face that I doubted anyone ever got to see." (Obsidian)

Fact #5: He knows how to deliver a memorable kiss! I have two words for you people: Laptop Scene "There wasn't a moment of hesitation. His mouth was on mine, and I stopped breathing. He shuddered and there was a sound from the back of his throat, half growl, half moan. Little shivers of pleasure and panic shot through me as he deepened the kiss, parting my lips. I stopped thinking. I pushed off the wall, sealing the tiny space between us, pressing against him, digging my fingers into his hair. Hello everyone! *Waves* Welcome to the 3rd Annual YA Crush Tourney! I am Chandra from Unabridged Bookshelf and I have the great honor of representing the esteemed Dimitri Belikov this year! If I seem familiar, you may have seen me here last year representing another fellow from the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series by the incrediably talented Richelle Mead, Mr. Eddie Castile. I had a lot of fun last year, and could not be more excited to have the chance to be an advocate again let alone for the gorgeous guardian Dimitri.

Dimitri is the knight is shining armor girls have been dreaming about for years. He is protective, noble, always willing to put his life on the line for those he loves and those he has sworn to protect. He takes his duty as Guardian for the Moroi (good vampires) very seriously, especially after losing his first charge and his best friend to the Strigoi (bad vampires).Dimitri is a true gentleman and most defiantly crush worthy.

Dimitri is tall, dark, and dreamy all wrapped up in a Russian accent. Dimitri stands just over 6’7” with dark soulful eyes, and long dark hair and he is incredibly fit. Don’t believe me, why not find out what Ms. Rose Hathaway has to say about Dimitri’s looks.

Noah S. from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Hi everyone! I'm Sara from The Page Sage and I'm representing Noah Shaw from the amazing Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin. There are no words to express how excited I am to be advocating a character from one of my favorite series. I can't wait to tell you all about Noah... So let's get started, shall we? 

Let’s talk looks.

Noah is gorgeous. He has messy, just-got-out-of-bed hair with a sexy five o’clock shadow. His clothes are constantly in disarray, in a way his tall, lean form can most definitely pull off. As for his smile, it’s one of those half-smirks, as if he’s hiding a secret. His eyes? A smoldering gray-blue.

I mean, looks are nice, but intelligence is truly attractive. And Noah is smart. I’m not just basing that on his witty repartee- he’s also widely read. (I mean, come on: a BOOKISH hot guy. Excuse me while I swoon.)

He has one. Need I say more?

What else do you need to know about Noah Shaw?

1.) He saved a dying dog.

2.) He’s a tortured soul.

3.) He plays guitar.

4.) He’s the King of Sexual Innuendos.

‘Because usually I have.’ And the way he raised his eyebrow at me made my blush.”

5.) He’s also terribly romantic.

BUT, in case I haven't convinced you yet, I wrote a song based on his relationship with Mara. (Which, admittedly, may not convince you at all, but I get points for effort, right?)

Sister's say: Out of this World (wink wink) and Heart Obliterating

What can I say that I haven't already said about Jennifer?  Probably nothing, but the girl has staying power.  She's a writing maniac, and I'm not quite sure who she made a deal with to produce this many amazing books in the short time she has been writing!  It honestly should make everyone speechless!  We are so not worthy!!!  

OPal is yet another one in the win column for JLA.  I found it different from the last 2 novels in the Lux series, but not in a bad way.  OBSIDIAN and ONYX are full of angst and snarkiness that Daemon so easily exudes.  They are both about the journey that Katy and Daemon were taking toward each other.  However, Daemon and Katy are in a new place now.  They are together  for real and are trying to deal with the fallout that was ONYX.  Katy is suffereing from the choices she made and deep betrayal of Blake.  The relationships in OPAL are completely different.  In a way, Daemon and Dee have switched roles.  Now, Dee and Katy's relationship is the volatile one and at times it's painful to watch. It's hard to see anyone that is dear to you suffer pain, and Dee's pain leaks from pages.  I feel like this book was about everyone coming to terms with Katy now being a permanent part of their family.  With that comes some serious fireworks, you can imagine how Andrew and Ash feel about that, plus, to Dee, Katy is a constant reminder of what she lost.

Dawson is also back, but he's a different Dawson than the one we met in SHADOWS.  A lot of what we saw of him, was completely sucked out by what he endured at the hands of the DOD.  His only desire is to get Beth back.  He's constantly trying to get to her no matter the danger he puts himself in.  The desperation he feels to have her back gave me an eerie feeling the entire book like there was a great hammer hanging above my head just waiting to drop.  

That feeling didn't come and go just with Dawson though.  Throughout most of the book, JLA treats us to a happy time in the lives of Dawson and Katy.  They spend time together, have fun and fall more in love.  There's some kissy scenes and more that had me in a puddle on the floor!  We see a new side of Daemon.  he's fun, spontaneous and very obviously in love with Katy.  So much good happens in their relationship that I was literally scared to turn every page.  My heart rate was high, and I was anxiously anticipating having my heart brutally ripped from my chest!

Needless to say, my forshadowing heart was spot on and that hammer fell and crushed me into a million different pieces!  It was so worth it though!  I read one part at the very end of OPAL so many times that I lost count! (those of you who have read this, know which part!) So, if you haven't read it yet, yes it is painful but without pain we never know true joy!  I have every faith in JLA and of course Deamon and Katy that everything will be okay!  The only truly, truly painful part is the wait for ORIGIN!

So all in all, OPAL was a wonderful time of watching Katy's and Daemon's love grow, and now the testing of that love is at hand! I can't wait to see what happens next!

JLA Come to Austin Pleeeease! :D

This is old news for those of you who have been following the YA Sisterhood, but...

WE LOVE JENNIFER. L. ARMENTROUT!

And for the OPAL Tour, Entangled is running a contest to let the readers decide where the Release Party should be. And we think it should be in Austin, TX! There are so many reasons-- for one, Austin is a great book town and there are so many bloggers here! And there are EVEN MORE Bloggers across Texas who might be able to travel for the event since Austin is centrally located. Austin is also a great town-- good food, good music, good people. AND... Well, he's a twenty-four-year-old dhampir with a sexy Russian accent. He's about six-six or six-seven with dark brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair that's usually tied back in a ponytail. He's one of the best and most respected of all the dhampirs. When we first meet him, he has six molnija tattoos onthe back of his neck because he has killed 6 strigoi. Rose actually says it better than I can here:

“He's a total badass. He's also pretty good-looking. Okay-more than good-looking. He's hot-like, the kind of hot that makes you stop walking on the street and get hit by traffic." Frostbite

What makes him stand out amongst the other competitors?

Unlike many guys on this list, his looks aren't the best part of him. He's hot for sure, but he's not a total jerk. He's a sexy, good guy. I'm gonna lean on Rose again to explain: "Yet, it had been Dimitri’s gentleness and thoughtfulness mixed with that deadliness that made him so wonderful. The same hands that wielded stakes with such precision would carefully brush the hair out of my face. The eyes that could astutely spot any danger in the area would regard me wonderingly and worshipfully, like I was the most beautiful and amazing woman in the world.” Blood Promise

What truly makes Dimitri the best crush on this list?

When everyone else thought Rose was a lost cause, he believed in her. He trained her and he took up for her. He was always pushing her to be her best. His support helped elevate her into the rockstar dhampir she eventually became. No matter what happened to Rose, he never lost faith in her. Not to mention, he thought her most attractive trait was her inner strength. Dimitri: "No, it won't happen to you. You're too strong. You will fight it, just like you did this time" Rose: "I only did it because you were here, I can't do it by myself" Dimitri: "You can, you're strong--you're so, so strong. It's why I love you." Daemon is one of the most POWERFUL of all the Lux.  Needless to say, when his emotions are....um shall we say engaged, things get a little explosive!

"His hands were on my hips, and he lifted me up as if I were made of air. My legs wrapped around his waist, and we moved to the right, knocking into a floor lamp. It toppled over, but I didn't spare it another thought. A light popped somewhere in the house. The TV turned on, then off, back on. Our lips remained sealed. It was like we couldn't get enough of each other. We were devouring one another, drowning in each other...There was a cracking sound in the house. A fissure of electricity shot through the room. Something smoked. My name is Brenna and I'm the blogger behind Esther's Ever After. I am absolutely THRILLED to be the #TeamPeeta advocate for this year's YA Crush Tournament!

Peeta is one of my absolute favourite YA boys out there, and I love spreading the love for the boy with the bread.

Tell us about your crush's...

Personality:
One of the things I love about Peeta is that he's one of the first "nice guys" in  YA who proves that they don't ALWAYS finish last (and can be just as popular as their bad boy counterparts)!

Peeta's thoughtful and caring- he can recognize when someone in need needs his help and he isn't afraid to stand up and do something about it. Even if it means some personal sacrifice on his part. Not only that but he's extremely brave, and often does put himself in harms way to help others, especially Katniss.

But one of my favourite aspects of Peeta's personality is that he's clever, as well. Rather than trying to use sheer force and strength to win the Games, he strategizes in order to come up with a plan (*minor spoiler for the first book: which will hopefully guarantee that Katniss wins, even if he doesn't). *SPOILER* And he's able to use his cake frosting skills to help camoflauge himself and keep himself alive, proving that not only is he physically strong (as Katniss explains, he does work at a bakery and pull around bags of flour) but intelligent and capable too.

Looks:
When Peeta's name is called as a tribute during the Reaping in District 12, Katniss describes him as "medium height, stocky build, ashy blonde hair that falls in waves over his forehead." She also mentions he has blue eyes.

And we all know that because he's hauling around these flour bags all day, that he's got to have nice arms. I mean, REALLY nice arms. *sa-woon*

Talents:
His cake frosting skills and their relation to his ability to use camoflauge (*minor spoiler* during the games) have already been mentioned but that's HUGE - it proves that the games are about much more than skill with a bow and arrow or outright killing.

And Katniss also mentions to him during training for the Games that he's strong because she's seen him throw around bags of flour while working at the bakery.

Peeta is also charming - and I decided to mention that as a talent rather than a personality, because it seems to be something he's able to turn off and on at will. And it's a tool he uses to his advantage during the games, trying to win viewers over so he can hopefully gain some sponsors. During preparation for the Games, while Katniss has problems adjusting to the idea of putting on a show for people, it's Peeta who is able to perform for others by waving and smiling at those around him.

And during Catching Fire is when we REALLY see him put on a show:

*SPOILER* “But I have to confess, I'm glad you two had at least a few months of happiness together."
I'm not glad," says Peeta. "I wish we had waited until the whole thing was done officially."
This takes even Caesar aback. "Surely even a brief time is better than no time?"
Maybe I'd think that, too, Caesar," says Peeta bitterly, "If it weren't for the baby.” (Catching Fire)

Special Attributes/Best Qualities:
We know that Peeta is willing to risk his life to save others- and that he's brave, putting himself in dangerous positions just to help them. And we know that he has certain talents that helpl him during the Games.

But one of the most overlooked qualities of his that isn't mentioned as much is his sense of humour - it's EXACTLY the kind that I love to see in a character, and his dry wit always seems to pop up even in rather dire situations.

“Yes, and I’m sure the arena will be full of bags of flour for me to chuck at people.”

“Yes, frosting. The final defense of the dying.”

And like many of the other characters in the Hunger Games, he WANTS to find a way to fight back. But he knows it isn't as simple as that.

"“Why not? It's true. My best hope is to not disgrace myself and..." He hesitates.
"And what?" I say.
"I don't know how to say it exactly. Only... I want to die as myself. Does that make any sense?" he asks. I shake my head. How could he die as anyone but himself? "I don't want them to change me in there. Turn me into some kind of monster that I'm not."
I bite my lip feeling inferior. While I've been ruminating on the availability of trees, Peeta has been struggling with how to maintain his identity. His purity of self. "Do you mean you won't kill anyone?" I ask.
"No, when the time comes, I'm sure I'll kill just like everybody else. I can't go down without a fight. Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to... to show the Capitol they don't own me. That I'm more than just a piece in their Games," says Peeta.
And what makes him more than a great person, but a great CRUSH? This guy is so romantic. I swoon at just about everything he says. Even if it's about bread.

"“I don't want you forgetting how different our circumstaces are. If you die, and I live, there's no life for me at all back in District Twelve. You're my whole life." Peeta says. "I would never be happy again. It's different for you. I'm not saying it wouldn't be hard. But there are other people who'd make your life worth living."

"No one really needs me," he says, and there's no selfpity in his voice. It's true his family doesn't need him. They will mourn him, as will a handfull of friends. But they will get on.... I realise only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me.

"I do," I say. "I need you.”" (Catching Fire)

“So I only say, "So what should we do with our last few days?"

"I just want to spend every possible minute of the rest of my life with you," Peeta replies.” (Catching Fire)

And lastly, to really show the depth of his inner strength I have to talk about one huge spoiler from Mockingjay *SPOILER*
Not only does Peeta fight back as much as he can against outside forces - but after he's held and brainwashed by the Capitol to hate Katniss and is set on a mission to kill her, it takes an extraordinary amount of strength from within himself to fight back against his own brainwashing in an attempt to rehabilitate him to who he once was.
“There's a chance that the old Peeta, the one who loves you, is still inside. Trying to get back to you. Don't give up on him.” (Mockingjay)

Anything else?

Katniss' appreciation for Peeta isn't instant, it's slow and gradual and built up over time. It's beautiful, and their relationship is one that still brings tears to my eyes.

“What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.” (Mockingjay)

That's who Peeta is, and what he means for her.

PLUS, I think one of Peeta's biggest selling points is that he is the boy with the bread. He's a baker's son, and he loves frosting cakes. So on a less serious note, you know what that means?
BAGUETTES.
CROISSANTS.
CAKES.
COOKIES.
PIE.

All that good stuff. I mean, if you can get a guy who is strong and brave and funny AND CAN BAKE - what else is there?

Really, Daemon is protecting not only his family but Katy too when he tries to push her away but it is so fun to watch those two together and you can't help but see the chemistry between them.

While all Lux are powerful, Daemon is the strongest of them all.

Match #2:  Alex(Seed #2) vs Lea(Seed #7)

A little bio:
Alex and Lea are both from JLA's Covenant series.  Alexandria, Alex for short, the protagonist of the series, was born a Half-Blood but finds out that she is actually 1 of 2 Apollyons.  In modern day history there has never been 2 Apollyons, so she is extremely rare.  And as legend says, 2 apollyons does not bode well for the Covenant.  Alex has bravely faced every challenge that has been tossed her way, some so harrowing that even the greatest of mythological heroes would have turned back.  She is caught in a love triangle of epic proportions between Seth and Aiden in which many of JLA's readers would gladly take her place!  Alex is facing down her arch-nemesis, Lea, who happens to know exactly how to push Alex's buttons.  Lea, like Alex, is a half-blood.  Lea's parents are killed tragically in HB, and the events surrounding those murders are linked to Alex, making their relationship even more volatile.  Lea is also known for her beauty and definitely is not lacking in any fighting skills. Even though Alex and Lea seem to be at odds most of the time, they do have some common ground that we are just starting to see as we dig deeper into the series.

Match #6:  Katy(Seed #2) vs Andrew(Seed #7)

Katy and Andrew are both characters in JLA's Lux series.  Katy, the protagonist, is a book blogger (woo-hoo) and moves next door to Daemon and Dee at the beginning of Obsidian.  Her and Daimon quickly strike up a very tense love/hate relationship with a little more of the hate used to hide the love.  It is flooked down upon for the Lux (aliens) to have realtionships with humans, but that doesn't stop Katy.  Even though Katy has no powers of her own, she in no means lacks for bravery.  She does her fair share of kicking butt and saving lives!  She is snarky and doesn't let anyone run over her. Dee quickly becomes her best friend giving her an even stronger tie to the Lux.  Andrew on the other hand, the stereotypical Lux.  He was born as a triplet with Andrew, Ashley and Adam making up the three.  Like all Lux, he is very good looking.  He is also proud, powerful, and very prejudice against humans.  He makes his feelings very evident that he does not agree with the relationshiops that Dawson, Daimon and Dee have with humans.  We don't know much about Andrew yet, but I'm sure there is more to come from him in Onyx.
