Will Herondale is somewhat of a kicked puppy; in desperate need of help but just wants love and he'll protect you. He has had a tragic childhood; he has punished himself by pushing away anyone who could possibly love him. He is self sacrificing almost to the point of masochism. His control and restraint for the betterment of others is unparalleled, placing him leagues beyond what most heroes are capable.

Will would do anything for Jem his parabatai; even give up his own happiness and dreams for Jem. Nearly selling his soul to help make Jem’s life a little easier, providing not only tangible palliatives but also those of friendship and loyalty. “Our souls are knit. We are one person, James.”

A true literature hero must win our hearts thru writ, and no one does it better than Will. He loves books as much as we do. The boy can whip out a quote from any number of classics to suit the moment or express his feelings - oh my.

“It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them.” I will be honest with you, Will. We flipping LOVE you more than words could express! If his wisecracks don't enamor you, watch out for his naked vulnerability, expressed to only one.

Will has mastered the art of killing Demons, while he does not have any supernatural abilities he knows how to fight his way out of the whole schmear. And while your donning 17th century grace, that's a tough act to beat. Chivalrous protection? Yes, please! Ah...but be warned, never will he oppress your dignity or honor. Once earned, you will maintain his loyalty and protection, unthreatened by disrespect or belittlement. His valiance is that of humility and earnestness to earn love, not for intimidation or domination. Will is also hilarious; his brand of sarcasm and dark wit will leave you rolling...or blushing. Take for instance his opinion on ducks. “Remember when you tried to convince me to feed a poultry pie to the mallards in the park to see if you could breed a race of cannibal ducks?"

And there's always the less innocent remarks - "Do you think you can be trusted in Downworld? The gaming hells, the dens of magical vice, the women of loose morals..." Will smiled the way Lucifer might have smiled, moments before he fell from heaven. "Would tomorrow be too early to start looking, do you think? " Have you ever noticed how "Will" is always the cornerstone of all great phrases, like Will you marry me or Where there's a Will there's a way? Finally, and perhaps one of the headiest arguments, because of Will we got Jace Wayland-Morgenstern-Lightwood-Herondale, another flawless character who you can’t help but fall in love with! You simply can't help falling deeply, madly and heinously fully in love with William Herondale - “What he needs now is to love and have that love returned.”

Hi Blog Readers this is Catarina from Reading and Things! This my first time advocating for this tourney and I'm super excited to be advocating Mr. Caleb Jacobson!!!!

So what makes a girl swoon? This is the YA Crush Tourney and a true Crush makes a girl swoon. And I'm here to give reasons to vote for my guy Caleb. So what makes Caleb a Crush-worthy and Swoon-worthy hunk of male?

"Caleb is different than any book boy out there. He doesn't have a jaded past, he doesn't have 'experience' in all sorts of things, he isn't crude or a jerk, he's real. He has been waiting for Maggie his entire life, knew exactly what he wanted, and wouldn't settle for anything less than her. He's stern and protective and strong like an alpha should be, but his softer side comes out when Maggie comes into the room and he loves her with his entire being, with his every breath. He lives to protect her and bows at her feet, adoring her, to do whatever she wishes. He loves his family, he's great with kids-he has a niece he adores-and loves his girl.'

He is the knight in shining armor that every girl dreams of. He is very protective of those he loves. He has a soft spot for kids, mainly his little niece. He is as strong and dominant as any alpha male out there. But the sweet nothings he says and does for the girl he loves makes him a sweetheart that will make any girls heart flutter. He doesn't underestimate Maggie, he understands that she is independent and she is capable of taking care of things on her own and lets her lead her own life, never the over controlling guy every girl hates. Finally, he willing to give up everything to make sure Maggie is safe and happy. He literally the guy girls dream of.

The best thing a Crush can say is something that makes your heart melt and cause butterflies to fly in your stomach. And I can tell you'll everything Caleb says and try to convince you he does, but we all know its better to read it personally.

Hey guys! I'm Jen from Jenuine Cupcakes and I'm here to tell you why Patch Cipriano from Becca Fitzpatrick's, "Hush Hush" series is totally crush worthy and deserves your vote!  ("Hush Hush", "Crescendo", "Silence" & "Finale" - coming in Oct.)
 

I'm really excited to be Patch's advocate because last year's crush tourney is where I *met* Patch and his Army. (Lemme tell you, I've never wanted to enlist so fast before in my life! *wink* *wink*) Patch has some amazing fans, many of whom are from around the world and it's been so much fun to hear what they love about our favorite fallen archangel!

Without further ado, I give you, Patch... 

(Cue theme song, "Back in Black" by AC/DC)   

WARNING: The following photos are not for the faint of heart and have been known to cause increased pulse, heart palpitations, excessive drooling, and occasional fainting spells.  Licking your computer screen is also NOT recommended.

 

"Angel boy", "Dream Guy" and "Hotsauce with Wings" are just a few names for our crush but if we asked him what name we should call him, he would say... 

"Call me Patch. I mean it. Call me."    

What's he look like?  Well... to say he's "easy on the eyes" is the understatement of the millennium, I mean, Patch is definitely not riding the ugly train that's for sure!  He's tall, dark and all kinds of wrong but in all the right ways. He's lean and hard with dark hair and eyes as black as a midnight ocean. Even Nora's BFF, Vee would say, "He's...hard-edged. Sexy." "rough-and-roguish".

He's an angel, so what, exactly, does he wear?  Being of angelic ethnicity, one would assume that he'd leave a trail of feathers wherever he went but when asked, Patch had this to say: “Hate to disappoint, but no feathers. I came to Earth stripped naked.”  *mental picture blushing*

I'm sorry, what was I saying? Oh right! Clothes... Patch isn't into trends but prefers the monochromatic bad boy look of black shirts and black jeans; the tighter the better. He also has a couple, um, shall we say, "distinguishing marks", which of course, only adds to his appeal. Nora gives us an idea of what those marks look like and having touched them, she can also attest to their appeal. (Don't be jealous. I'm sure Patch would let you touch them too if you asked nicely. *winks*)

"In my mind I switched back and forth between the painting of the angel's scars and Patch's scars. Both scars had healed to the color of black licorice, both ran from the shoulder blades to the kidneys, and both curved out as they traveled the length of his back."

Patch's scars are a constant reminder of the mistakes he's made. However, being able to find the good in a seemingly bad situation is an important crush worthy quality... 

“All this time I've hated myself for it. I thought I'd given it up for nothing. But if I hadn't fallen, I wouldn't have met you.”  

(Once you're finished staring at those scars and trying to think of ways to help "heal" them, continue reading because there's a lot more of Patch to crush over.) 

What about his personality? Patch possesses a witty sense of humor that's full of snark and he has the ability to turn any situation into an innuendo. (I bet if you looked up "Innuendo" in the dictionary, Patch's picture would be next to it.)  

“You smell good, too,” said Patch
"It’s called a shower.” I was staring straight ahead. “Soap. Shampoo. Hot water.” 

"Naked. I know the drill.”  

“I’m going to grab a cheeseburger,” I told Patch. “Want anything?”
“Nothing on the menu.”

While Patch is rarely at a loss for words and he's fluent in sarcasm, helpfulness is another one of his crush worthy traits. And who doesn't love a guy that can cook?!  Am I right?

"Tacos."

"Tacos?" I echoed.

This seemed to amuse him. "Tomatoes, lettuce, cheese."

"I know what a taco is!” 

"Come here. I'll teach you how to make tacos." 

"I could get you to smile like that, and without sales tax."  (See? Helpful AND frugal!) 

Patch won't call you a typical endearing pet name like, "Honey", "Sweetheart" or "Baby". Nah, he'll call you something more ethereal than that because that's how he is...

"Hang on, did you just call me Angel?" I asked.

"If I did?"
"I don't like it."
He grinned. "It stays, Angel.”  

What is his preferred method of transportation?  Patch would tell you, "I move in mysterious ways." and "I can fly."  While both of these are true, his usual ride is a sleek, black motorcycle.

 

Will he come to my aid, be knight in shining armor?  Who needs a knight in shining armor when you can have a guardian angel in tight black jeans on a motorcycle?  (Besides, all that cold hard armor just gets in the way when mouth to mouth resuscitation is needed. And from what Nora tells us, Patch has had a lot of practice with the whole mouth to mouth thing and is quite good at it, incredible even.) 
Patch does have a knack for showing up just when he's needed and he doesn't mess around, especially where his girl is concerned.

“'I didn’t break his jaw, but if he lays a hand on you, it will be the first of many things to break,' Patch said.”  

He's also honest about what he wants but isn't pushy.

“Is that a yes?" he asked, pushing his fingers through my hair, fanning it out around my shoulders and searching my face intently. "Please let it be yes," he said with a gravelly edge. "Stay with me tonight. Let me hold you, even if that's all it is. Let me keep you safe.”  

“Or, if you decide you want to sleep at my place, on opposite sides of my bedroom with a Do Not Cross line drawn down the middle, I'll do it. I won't like it, but I'll do it.” 

What about his softer side?  It's true that Patch is built to fight, protect and defend but he also has a softer side and doesn't hesitate to say what he feels. And trust me, he feels a LOT. 

“There's only one thing I know for certain anymore." He turned, his eyes a clear black. That I would do anything for you, even if it means going against my instincts or my very nature. I would lay down everything I possess, even my soul, for you. If that isn't love, it's the best I have.” 

Patch does tend to elicit ALL THE FEELS leaving one overwhelmed (revert back to photos above for clarification) but don't worry, follow the instructions below and you'll be just fine. 

PS - I asked Patch what his thoughts on the whole crush tourney were and he had this to say,"Vote for Patch. I mean it. Vote for Patch."

Are you swooning yet? You should be. Imagine this - dark black hair, deep sea green eyes, tall, loyal, a sarcastic sense of humor, and willing to save the world again and again. He's risked his life to save his friends, as well as his enemies, throughout two series of books.

Wait, what?! NO! Percy HAS a girlfriend! Yes, I know we should avoid guys that are spoken for, but how can we not daydream about him after seeing how he treats Annabeth? Percy does everything in his power to keep her out of danger. I mean, he took the weight of the world so it wouldn't be on her shoulders! (If you've read the books, you know exactly what I'm talking about.) And how can you not fantasize about a boy kissing you like this:

I'll be honest with you - Percy is not a bad boy. He's not a rock star, he's not an alien, and he's not an angel. Percy Jackson is just a kid with dyslexia and ADHD who just happened to be lucky enough to live in a literary world where being a demigod makes life in "reality" hard. It gets even more difficult when he joins others like him at Camp Half-Blood. He has to battle monsters, former friends, titans, and more, but Percy never loses sight of what is important to him or what he believes in. He is always willing to sacrifice everything he has to do what is right. (He even gives up something nearly anyone would dream of in order to have the gods grant the dying wish of his enemy!)

A good man (or kid, boy, whatever) is hard to find in YA, and Percy Jackson definitely fits the bill. Give your vote to the good guy who will save the world again, and again, and again.

1. About Her

Rose (Rosemarie) Hathaway is a 17 year old dhampir which basically means she’s half human-half vampire. She has all the good vampire traits agility, strength, and good health and none of the setbacks like having to drink blood or not being able to be out in direct sunlight. She is beautiful even in vampire standards and she has men vampire and dhampir alike vying for her attentions. She is 5 foot 7 and athletic but she has a curvy body that most of us would kill for! She has an exotic look with dark eyes, dark hair, and lightly tanned skin all that’s attributed to her father and, the strength and fighting skills come from her mother Janine who is a Guardian and all around butt kicking woman.

Here’s what Adrian thinks of Rose….

Adrian: "Rose Hathaway, I can't wait to see you again. If you're this charming while tired and annoyed and this gorgeous while
bruised and in ski clothes, you must be devastating at your peak."
Rose: If by 'devastating' you mean you should fear for your life, then yeah. You're right."

2. Best Attributes

Rose is fiercely loyal to those that she loves so loyal that sometimes it gets her into hot water but she always finds a way out. She is willing to sacrifice her life not only for her best friend Lissa (whom she has a psychic bond with), the man she loves, all of her friends, but any other innocent person who might find themselves in trouble. She has an inner strength and outer strength she has fought and killed many strigoi (bad vampires) which is a feat in itself. She’s killed more than most adult guardians.

3. What makes your girl a true heroine?

Rose is our heroine because she is a strong kick butt female who protects the world from evil. She is also intelligent with an amazing quick wit and sarcastic streak that makes us laugh. Her heart has been shattered and put back together again but through all of it she does not crawl in a hole and cry she stands up and fights for what she feels is right and for love.

Rose is a compassionate and true friend and will do whatever is necessary to defend those she's loves and has proved it again and again by ridding the world of the evil Strigoi as evidenced by the marks she bears on her neck which label her a true warrior and someone who can be counted on. 

We wanted to add a little something from Dimitri here to show what he see’s in Rose.

Dimitri: "No, it wont happen to you. You're too strong. You will fight it, just like you did this time"
Rose: "I only did it because you were here, I cant do it by myself"
Dimitri: "You can, you're strong--you're so, so strong. It's why I love you"

4. Why should we vote for Rose instead of Clara?

We here at Two Chicks On Books absolutely adore Clara she is awesome so why should you vote for Rose instead? Here are a few reasons why we believe Rose to be a stronger heroine.

Clara had a purpose and she failed to complete it she actually chose to fight it. She lets her emotions get in the way of her goals and almost gets herself assaulted and or killed. She tries to hide her identity underneath hats and hair dye and can be pretty selfish. She also lacks self confidence.


Rose would never turn away from her destiny even if it means being apart from the love of her life. She's just that honorable and when she makes a promise she keeps it. 

 5. Anything else you’d like to add?

Why vote for Rose?? Because Dimitri Belikov and Adrian Ivashkov two of the most swoon worthy men in books say so! Also here’s a little poem by Adrian…

Clara is a part angel and has a purpose to fulfill on Earth.  Clara's hybrid status grants her various superhuman abilities, and also gives her an undiscovered purpose to fulfill. After dreaming of a young man and a forest fire, Clara eventually meets and watches over Christian, the boy in her visions. She also befriends a brooding angel-blood named Angela, a spunky girl named Wendy, and Wendy's brother Tucker.  Clara becomes romantically drawn to both Christian and Tucker, learns of a conflict with fallen angels, and tries to discover her purpose on Earth. Clara is awesome because she can Glory !! Glory is something at which angels can use to defend themselves against their enemies. She isn’t perfect, but she is kind to others, can fly with her wings, and has premonitions of her main goal.

What makes your girl a true Heroine?

Clara is a true heroine, because she has the ability to see what she has to do in order to fulfill her purpose.

In the book she saves the lives of the ones she loves (Tucker) in the fire. She is in love with a cowboy!! She helps defeat her mother enemy of the Black Wings who work in Hell.

Why should people vote for Clara over Rose?

People should vote for Clara over Rose from Vampire Academy because 1. She is beautiful, she is dating TUCKER!! Tucker is the sweetest boy ever!  She can fly away from her enemies; she can have visions of her future and what the purpose of it is. Clara does move quite a bit, so she is able to travel around the world!  Clara is unique, funny and one awesome heroine!!

Anything else to add?

 “I love how he sometimes gets embarrassed by the mushy stuff between us and then his voice gets all gruff and he tickles me or kisses me to shut us both up. Boy, do we ever kiss. We make out like champions.”

“Fine.” He smirks at me. “Nice to meet you, Carrots,” he says, looking directly at my hair. “Oh, I mean Clara.”
