Blog Tour: If I Should Die by Amy Plum, Interview with Vincent!!!

Today we are hosting the If I Should Die Blog Tour!  The YA Sisterhood is a huge fan of the Revenant Series, and we are so sad to see it ending.  We will miss you Kate and Vincent.

BUT.....

We were able to score one last interview with the gorgeous Vincent!  So check it out.  Be sure to check out my review of If I Should Die here

********************************

Hey Vincent!
Thank you so much for stopping by the YA Sisterhood!  We love you. *blushes* I mean, we think you’re pretty cool.  We know you are really busy saving lives and all that, so we won’t keep you long!  Instead of doing a traditional interview, we wanted to see how you respond to a few statements!
So, without further ado, let’s jump right in!
True or False? And feel free to elaborate, or, um, move closer if you want.  *deeper blush*
1.       All’s fair in love and war.
I’d have to say false to both. War is always unfair for most of the people who actually fight. Unless those “people” happen to be numa, of course. As far as love, there are rules. I would never make a move on a friend’s girlfriend, for example. I guess it just comes down to loyalty and basic respect.
2.       2 is better than 1.
True. Unless the criterion is “women who you love” and then I’d have to say that one’s enough for me.
3.       You always hurt the ones you love.
False. I prefer you always hurt the ones you hate, and the ones you love should be pampered.
4.       Better late than never.
I have to say I’m pretty punctual, but know some people who don’t know what a clock is. And their name might start with A. Oh, and also J. So I’d have to agree—showing up in the nick of time is better than not showing at all.
5.       Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know.
I know plenty of devils. And I’d prefer to go up against the ones I know. Knowing your enemy’s weakness is most of the battle.
6.       Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.
True. Although even those who remember the past are doomed to repeat it. Human nature never changes.
7.       Nothing is impossible.
I’ll answer that with, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

And lastly, we have a few this and that questions for you to intrigue our readers!
Kiss or Cuddle? A lot of both, please.
Fire or Ice? Fire. Especially when it comes to girls, feisty is always more fun than frosty.
Truth or Dare? Depends on if I’m asking or responding. I have a lot of secrets – I’d have to choose dare.
Fight or Flight? Fight. Every time.
Trick or Treat? Treat!
Boxers or Briefs? Why do people always ask me that question? Okay, for the sisterhood, I will reveal that I wear Ermenegildo Zegna boxer briefs.

If I Should Die by Amy Plum

If I Should Die by Amy Plum

I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

Heart-breaking and romantic, Amy Plum’s If I Should Die will take you on a rollercoaster of life and death; but this time, death could truly become permanent.  This is it—the end is here.  A champion will emerge, a war will be fought, a prophecy will be fulfilled.

Final books in a series—I both love and hate them.  Finishing a series is like closing a chapter on your own life.  You have come to know and love characters and settings, and watching them end is an unbearable relief because you want a conclusion to the trauma and conflict, but at the same time, you don’t want to leave those characters behind.  Vincent, Jules, and Kate, along with so many other of Amy’s characters will be truly missed.

After that unbelievably torturous cliffhanger at the end of book 2, I just had to know what was going to happen next; and this third book does not disappoint in its ending.  However, the first 200 pages were a bit of a disappointment to me.  Don’t get me wrong, this was good book, but it was just really slow starting.  I had a hard time pushing through to get to the action and revelations.  But, if you are like me, and you just have to know what happens with Vincent and Kate, then this is well worth the slow parts to find out if there will be a happily ever after.  So, push through those parts because starting with Part 2, the action really picks up.

I really loved Vincent so much in this book, even when he was being overly corny with his gushing feelings.  He is very much the epitome of a hopeless romantic, and I think many girls love him for this.  I love his strength and determination to fight for the bardia and to protect the ones he loves.  He’s self-sacrificing to a fault, but I just can’t help but love him.  Unfortunately, the other guy I love so much, Jules, wasn’t in this one too much.  I really missed his humor and quips, and sadly, I think the book suffered because of his absence.

Kate was such a great heroine!  She’s strong-willed and confident, and she knows what must be done for the greater good.  I admired how she was able to absorb the heart-breaking sadness of revenants dying around her, yet still fight on.  She seems much more mature in this final book.  I also really loved Georgia.  She adds some much needed comic relief, and she is completely fierce despite her weaknesses.  Her fiery temper and hard-to-get acting definitely made me laugh at times.

Besides the slow parts, the other thing that bothered me was the predictability.  I won’t go into detail because it would be a major spoiler, but I pretty much knew how everything was going to turn out before I even started reading this final book.  However, even with the predictability, I found myself still being emotional.  I will admit to a few tears near the end, and I am not usually a crier.  But, Amy didn’t shy away from death, and I admire her for that.  It made the war more realistic, and it added an emotional depth that many books about good vs. evil don’t have.

Overall, I was happy with the way this series ended.  I felt like Amy wrapped everything up well without leaving some lingering questions.   While it is a slow read for most of the book, it was definitely worth it to get to the amazing ending.  I will miss the world of the Revenants, but mostly, I will miss the epic love story of Kate and Vincent.

I hate endings because that means it's over.  No more Vincent, no more Jules, no more Kate.  I'm going to miss them so much!!!  I'm just 100 pages in, but I hope this one doesn't break my heart!

The Sisters Say:  Dazzling, Dynamic, and to Die for!

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

I was fortunate enough to receive an arc of Until I Die from Edelweiss Above the Treeline, and I started reading it the moment it downloaded.

It actually started out pretty slow with most of it focusing on character development--I even got discouraged at one point because I felt like nothing was happening. It actually started out pretty slow with most of it focusing on character development--I even got discouraged at one point because I felt like nothing was happening. But I am SO GLAD I kept going--it really starts to pick up near the middle, and from that point, I just had to know what was going to happen.

Amy Plum did an excellent job of providing twists and turns--I mean, there were parts I never would have seen coming! Any time I tried to predict what the bad guys were up to, I was proven wrong. And even more interesting, Amy Plum doesn't even reveal who the antagonist is until the very end--another surprise I didn't see coming!

Why should you read this book?

1.) If you loved Vincent in the first book, you will truly love him in Until I Die. He is even more sexy, more mysterious, and more protective.  I just love how hard he tries to keep Kate happy—even if it hurts him.

2.) You will learn even more about the Revenants--secrets they hide and prophecies they believe.  You get bits and pieces of their history as the story unfolds.

3.) You will get to know the characters even better. I really think my favorite part of Amy Plum's Revenant series is the deepness of her characters. She knows how to write so that you feel like you know her characters--even the ones that aren't focused on like Gaspard, Jean-Baptiste, and some of the other revenants. I loved getting to know Ambrose and Jules more in this one--full of loyalty, trust, and charisma.

4.) And finally--the cliffhanger ending. I had to reread the last page a few times to see if I missed anything because I quite literally wanted to fall to my knees and scream, "You can't end there!" 2013 can't come soon enough!

5.) The new characters!  There are a few new characters that play a large role in this book, and I really enjoyed seeing how other Revenants act, speak, fight, etc.  We are used to the Paris revenants, but in this book we get to see some from other parts of the world.

I do wish there would have been more romance between Kate and Vincent.  Don’t get me wrong, the romance is there, but it felt a little lacking, like it didn’t progress much from book 1.  I wanted more of those secret moments where he touches her cheek and her stomach rolls; more of those kisses that just take your breath away; more of those oh la la moments that make you wish you were Kate!  Hopefully, Amy Plum will go all out in the next installment (If I Should Die).

So finally, I urge you to push through the slower parts in the beginning because it is definitely worth it to see how the rest of the story unfolds!!!!!!

Until I Die (Revenants, #2)

Kate, it's not a weakness to want a normal relationship--one where you don't have to watch your boyfriend be carried home in a body bag a couple of times a year. (ARC, p. 67)

I have barely started reading this one, but I must say that I LOVED Die for Me, book 1 in the Revenants series!  I've been so excited to start reading this!  It is wonderful to be back in the company of Vincent, Jules, Ambrose and Kate!  Until I Die will be published by HarperTeen and releases on May 8th.
